A Father's Love, a Son's Terror: CPS, Rachell Van Mullem, and the Kidnapping of My Son
A father's testimony of fighting for his son against systemic failure, Child Predator Services, and the injustice that followed 250 police reports.
What does it feel like to watch your child suffer while the systems designed to protect him look the other way?
I know that feeling. I have lived it. And I refuse to stay silent.
The Beginning
My son was everything to me. Like any father, I would do anything — give anything — to protect him. But what happens when the very institutions that are supposed to protect children become the instruments of their harm?
That is the question I have been forced to answer. Not in theory. In reality. In courtrooms, in police stations, in sleepless nights filled with fear and grief.
Child Predator Services
They call it Child Protective Services. I call it what it became in our case: Child Predator Services.
Rachell Van Mullem was a name that would change our lives forever. The details of what happened to my son — the kidnapping, the torture, the silence from law enforcement — are not easy to read. They were not easy to live.
I filed 250 police reports. Two hundred and fifty. Each one a cry for help. Each one met with silence, dismissal, or worse — complicity.
0 Arrests. 0 Convictions.
Zero arrests. Zero convictions. That is the record of a system that failed my son.
How does a father process that? How does a child survive it?
The answer, for us, has been faith. Not blind faith that pretends the pain isn't real. But the kind of faith that says: even here, even in this darkness, God has not abandoned us.
Why I Speak
I speak because silence is not an option. I speak because there are other fathers, other children, other families who are living what we lived — and they need to know they are not alone.
Everything Peace was born from this pain. Not to wallow in it, but to transform it. To take what was meant to destroy us and use it to build something that helps others.
What Comes Next
The fight is not over. It may never be fully over. But every day I choose to stand up, to speak out, and to love my son with everything I have — that is a victory.
If you are a parent in crisis, if you are facing a system that has turned against you, please reach out. You do not have to fight alone.
Love in action means showing up — even when it costs everything.
